The Pinery fire started on 25 November 2015 about 70 km north of Adelaide and burnt around 82,500 hectares. It killed two people, destroyed about 91 homes and hit towns including Roseworthy, Wasleys, Mallala and Freeling.
Summers are hot and dry, so cooling and water pumping are the big loads. Winters are mild with good sun.
The outskirts cross the Town of Gawler, Light Regional Council and Adelaide Plains Council.
