Off-grid and hybrid solar for Kyogle and the Border Ranges
Kyogle Shire is big, steep and a long way from the next substation. If you're on a farm up the valley, a new house on acreage, or a block where the connection price made you laugh, we can help.

What power's like out here
Kyogle is on Essential Energy's network. A lot of the shire is fed by long rural lines, including single-wire earth return (SWER) lines in the back country. Those lines are cheap to build and hard to keep up, and the end of the line is where outages last longest.
Kyogle Council area was hit hard in the 2022 floods, with the damage mostly from landslips and washed-out roads through the ranges. When the road goes, the line crew can't get in either.
The shire runs up to the Queensland border through the Border Ranges and Toonumbar national parks. Bushfire is a real risk on the timbered ridges, and summer storms knock out power along the valleys.
Most properties are big. Grazing country, dairy, and lifestyle blocks of 40 hectares and up are normal, so pumps, sheds and long runs to outbuildings are part of nearly every design.
How we work here
We design every Kyogle system in Lismore, around your house, sheds, pumps and the way the seasons treat you. Then a vetted, accredited installer from the area puts it in. You get a written design you can understand before anyone lifts a panel.
- Tell us about the property on our design form.
- We design the system in-house and send you the design.
- A vetted, accredited local partner installs it. See our recent work.
Common questions
Is it cheaper to go off-grid than connect in Kyogle?
Often, on blocks a long way from the nearest pole. Ask the network for a connection price, send it to us with your usage, and we'll show you what a stand-alone system would look like next to it.
I'm on a SWER line. Is a battery worth it?
If you lose power often, a battery with proper backup is the most common fix we design. The system keeps the house running and the grid becomes the backup.
Can you power pumps and sheds as well as the house?
Yes. Pumps, cool rooms and workshops are part of the load list from the start, so the system is sized for the whole property.
Do you cover Woodenbong and Bonalbo?
Yes, the whole shire. Tell us your postcode and we'll match you with the nearest partner installer.
