What power's like out here
Tamborine Mountain is on Energex's network, the distributor for south-east Queensland. The plateau is fed by overhead lines through tall rainforest and eucalypt, so storms and falling trees are the main cause of outages.
Severe storms on Christmas night 2023 brought down trees and lines across the Gold Coast hinterland and Scenic Rim.
The mountain is in the Scenic Rim Regional Council area. It's wetter and cooler than the coast, with plenty of shade from big trees, so panel placement and battery size need real thought.
Blocks run from suburban lots in Eagle Heights to acreage on the escarpment and in the valleys below.

Common questions
Will a battery keep my house running in a long storm outage?
It can, if it's designed for backup. We pick the circuits that stay on and size the battery for a few days of grey weather.
My block is shady. Can solar still work?
Often, with careful panel placement, a ground mount or a larger array. We check shade on the design before promising anything.
Can I go off-grid on the mountain?
On larger blocks, yes. Most people here choose hybrid with strong backup instead, and we'll show you both.
Are there rebates in Queensland?
