Off-grid and hybrid solar for Taree and the Manning Valley
The Manning is long rural lines, a river that floods and a lot of blocks a fair way from the last pole. What power's like out here
Taree and the Manning Valley are on Essential Energy's network. The lines out of Taree run a long way towards Wingham, Krambach and the lanes off Gloucester Road, so outages after storms are common and can last a while.
When the Manning comes up, and it does, the houses running their own power keep the fridge cold while the rest of the valley waits. Backup is the first thing most people here ask about.
Old Bar and the coastal villages mix holiday houses with permanent homes. Who lives there year-round changes the sizing, so the design starts with that question.

Common questions
Do you install off-grid solar in Taree?

Is off-grid cheaper than connecting a rural block near Taree?
Often the grid connection price for a new rural block covers a complete stand-alone system with a generator for backup, and there's no daily supply charge afterwards. The design compares both paths with the working shown.
Will a battery keep the house going in a flood?
