EcoFlow's OCEAN 2 is an all-in-one hybrid built for houses that want the whole home backed up and a lot of storage behind it: single-phase and three-phase inverters, 5 kWh and 8 kWh modules up to twelve per inverter, a switchover EcoFlow rates at zero milliseconds, and a fifteen-year inverter warranty. It's new to the Australian market, and it comes from the portable-power company most people already know. Here's what it is, where it fits, and — because we're an off-grid company — exactly where we draw the line on what we'll design it to do today.

The single-phase OCEAN 2 Plus comes in 8, 10 and 12 kW versions with three MPPTs and PV input up to 24 kW. The three-phase units run from 6 to 12 kW. EcoFlow's product page rates peak output at 200% for ten seconds for motor starts.
5 or 8 kWh modules, up to 96 kWh per inverter
Two module sizes — 5 kWh (5.02 kWh nominal) and 8 kWh (8.03 kWh nominal) — and one inverter carries up to twelve of them across more than one tower (EcoFlow lists up to five packs per tower), which is 96 kWh per inverter. Up to five inverters parallel on grid for a ceiling EcoFlow puts at 480 kWh. Very few residential systems reach for that; the point is that a big house or a small commercial site doesn't run out of headroom.
Zero-millisecond switchover, generator via transfer switch
EcoFlow rates the grid-to-battery switchover at 0 ms (with the conditions in its footnote), so nothing in the house notices the grid drop. A generator connects through an automatic transfer switch, which is how EcoFlow documents generator integration. Outdoor-rated at IP66.
15 years on the inverter
EcoFlow warrants the OCEAN 2 inverter for fifteen years, lists the 8 kWh module at "10 + 5 years" and the 5 kWh module at fifteen years. The capacity and throughput conditions sit in the warranty document, and they're worth reading — we walk through them at design time.
Where it fits
OCEAN 2 is a grid-connected whole-home battery first: the house that wants every circuit backed up through a storm season, a large bank for evening loads and an EV, and room to grow. In the Northern Rivers and South East Queensland — where the grid goes down in the wet and stays down for days — that is a serious use case, and it's one we design for.
Where we draw the line today
Off grid, we wait for the documentation. EcoFlow's published Australian material describes OCEAN 2 as a grid-connected hybrid with backup. Stand-alone operation with no grid connection at all — the way a Victron, Selectronic, Deye or Sigenergy-with-Gateway system lives — isn't documented in what we've read. So we design OCEAN 2 for grid-connected homes with whole-home backup, and we don't design it as the sole power source for a property until EcoFlow says in writing that it's supported. If that changes, this page changes.
It's new here. OCEAN 2 arrived on the Australian market in 2026. New platforms mature through firmware, and early owners get a dealer who watches the release notes. We say the same about Victron's newest units; it applies here with more force.
It's an ecosystem. EcoFlow inverter, EcoFlow modules, EcoFlow app. Neat, and closed — you don't add another maker's battery later.
Approvals are checked per model. Clean Energy Council listing matters for rebates and for installers' accreditation conditions. We confirm the exact inverter and module listings at design time and tell you where each stands.
Read the warranty as written. Fifteen years on the inverter is a strong number. The battery modules' terms sit in EcoFlow's warranty document, and we read them with you before anything is quoted.
