Victron × Deye installer settings.
On-site sheet for a Victron Multi RS Solar 48/6000 with a Deye AI-W5.1 bank: five modules, 5.12 kWh each (a kilowatt-hour is stored energy), 25.6 kWh nominal and about 23 kWh usable at 90% depth of discharge. Hand it to the installer. They read it on the tools and tick it off. Confirm every figure against the Deye datasheet for the modules on the wall. Where the two differ, Deye's numbers win.
What this sheet is written for
Multi RS Solar 48/6000
- Inverter
- 6 kVA (kilovolt-amps, the inverter's size rating) / about 5.3 kW continuous
- Battery range
- 38–62 V DC
- Charger
- 100 A max, AC and solar together; about 88 A from AC alone (230 V in, 57.6 V battery, 25 °C)
- Solar
- 2 × 3 kW trackers. MPPT is the solar charger that harvests the array. 450 V max on the datasheet. Open-circuit panel voltage stays under 8 times the battery float voltage.
- Comms
- VE.Can to the Cerbo. VE.Direct on this inverter is for programming in VictronConnect, not the link to the GX. Bluetooth for local setup.
Deye AI-W5.1 × 5
- Chemistry
- LiFePO4, 16S, 51.2 V nominal
- Voltage window
- Read the label. Older datasheet: 43.2–57.6 V. AI-W5.1-B: 44.8–57.6 V.
- Capacity
- 500 Ah / 25.6 kWh nominal, about 23 kWh usable at 90% depth of discharge
- Current
- About 200 A recommended, 250 A max, for a stack of 4 to 6 modules. This Multi RS still limits charge and discharge to 100 A.
- Comms
- CAN 2.0 and RS485 into the battery management system (BMS — the electronics that keep the cells safe). Deye is not on Victron's official supported-battery list. Read the limits on the GX against the datasheet.
At the 54.0 V fallback float, 8 times the battery float voltage is 432 V. Victron's own default float is 55.2 V, which puts that cap at 441.6 V. The tracker ceiling on the Multi RS datasheet is still 450 V. Size the string to the lowest of those.
How the cables land on the Cerbo
The Multi RS and the Deye BMS do not share a socket, a speed, or a profile. CAN here is the comms link between the gear. Menu path on the Cerbo: Settings → Connectivity → VE.Can port → CAN-bus profile.
| Multi RS bus | Deye battery bus | |
|---|---|---|
| Cable | Straight RJ45, from the Multi RS VE.Can port to a Cerbo VE.Can port | Type A, from the Deye PCS port (the battery's inverter comms socket). Battery pins 4, 5 and 6 to Cerbo pins 7, 8 and 3 |
| Cerbo port | A VE.Can port. Never on BMS-Can. | BMS-Can. Leave the Multi RS off this port. |
| Profile | VE.Can & Lynx Ion BMS (250 kbit/s) | CAN-bus BMS (500 kbit/s), set by hand. This one is not auto-detected. |
| Terminators | Both ends of that VE.Can run | Follow the Deye manual for the battery end |
The two buses stay separate. Joining them puts 250 kbit/s gear and 500 kbit/s gear on one wire, and the Multi RS drops off the device list.

0/4Important — verify before commissioning
Confirm absorption, float and the per-stack charge current against the Deye datasheet for the exact modules purchased. For 4 to 6 modules that current is about 200 A recommended and 250 A max, and this Multi RS still stops at 100 A. Where Deye's numbers differ from this guide, Deye's numbers win. The installer follows the manufacturer manuals and the local wiring rules, and the job is certified. This guide is a starting point. It does not replace the documentation.
Multi RS not showing on Cerbo
Work down this list before anyone swaps a cable.
- Port. Straight RJ45 into a VE.Can port on the profile VE.Can & Lynx Ion BMS (250 kbit/s). Never on BMS-Can. The Deye stays on the other bus.
- Terminators. One at the Multi RS and one at the Cerbo, on that VE.Can run.
- Profiles. Settings → Connectivity → VE.Can port. Inverter port: VE.Can & Lynx Ion BMS (250 kbit/s). Battery port: CAN-bus BMS (500 kbit/s), set by hand. The two cables never share a socket.
- Full reboot. After the profiles are set, remove power from the Cerbo and the Multi RS, then bring them back. A restart from the menu is a lighter action and can leave the bus half-awake.
- Firmware. Update the Multi RS in VictronConnect, and update the Cerbo, before the cable gets the blame. The GX link on a Multi RS is VE.Can only. VE.Direct on this inverter is for programming.
- Cerbo GX MK2. The MK2 has two separate CAN buses. VE.Can 1 is isolated. VE.Can 2 is not. Each port keeps its own profile, which is how the 250 kbit/s inverter and the 500 kbit/s battery share one Cerbo. A known MK2 fault is VE.Can 2 dropping out of the device list on the newer screen. Victron's fix is in Venus OS v3.60~59 and later. Update to that or newer. While that update is still to come, the older screen is the workaround Victron named. A port that stays dead after that update is a warranty return.
Checked against
- Multi RS Solar datasheet (PDF) — battery range 38–62 V, charger 100 A combined and about 88 A from AC, panel voltage under 8 times the battery float voltage.
- Cerbo GX manual — connecting Victron products — VE.Can and BMS-Can stay on separate buses. Multi RS joins the GX on VE.Can only.
- Deye AI-W5.1 datasheet v1.7 (PDF) — current for 4 to 6 modules, and the voltage window. The label on the module still wins if it is an AI-W5.1-B.
