Stand-alone and grid-backup storage

Off grid battery,
sized to the house.

An off-grid battery carries the house when the roof goes quiet. We design that storage for Australian properties: a hybrid system (solar plus a battery, with the grid as backup) or a stand-alone stack with the poles gone. The drawing comes first. Sigenergy, Deye, EcoFlow and Victron come after, and only when the loads call for them.

What the storage is for

A home battery for off-grid living

Stand-alone

The house with the poles gone

Days the battery carries the house. Winter sun is assumed. The generator start rule is written down before any brand is named.

Hybrid

Grid still there, rarely touched

Evening peak and blackout cover, with the grid as the fallback. The design can keep a later cut of the connection open.

Existing solar

A roof already exporting

Storage still missing. The inverter on the wall, the switchboard, and the circuits that stay alive decide the battery.

Chemistry

Lithium usually, sodium when it fits

Lithium is the usual fit. Sodium-ion is named when cold mornings, a long empty season, or the chemistry itself decide it. Sealed lead-acid is on the lithium vs AGM page. The array and the rest of the stack are on off-grid systems.

The order we work in

Property, then design, then the battery

No brand is the house brand. We hold no warehouse, on purpose. An off grid battery is named after the loads, the winter, and the room it lives in. The platforms we actually install are on what we install. The shop overview sits on the homepage.

The gear, after the drawing

These are the same platforms named on the install page. None of them is a default.

Modular tower

Sigenergy SigenStor

Inverter, battery management electronics and storage modules in one tower. Start near 8 kilowatt-hours of stored energy (kWh) and grow past 40 as the property grows.

Surge

Deye

Inverters with the surge rural properties actually use — bore pumps, compressors, the shed that doubles as a business. Single and three phase, grid-tied or fully stand-alone, paired with lithium storage. The inverter is the box that turns solar and battery power into household power.

All-in-one

EcoFlow OCEAN 2

Whole-home storage in single-phase and three-phase versions, with a fast switch to backup when the network drops.

Where we started

Victron

Fifteen years of stand-alone builds still sit on that gear. It is still sold and still supported, including systems already on the wall.

On the ground

Where an install actually happens

We install where accredited installers are on the ground: Northern Rivers, Tweed, Gold Coast, Mid North Coast, and the South Australian towns on the areas page. Outside that map you get a straight answer, and we check whether a preferred partner can take the site on.

A custom design, not a catalogue pack

Tell us the property — existing solar or a bare roof, what stays on through a blackout, and whether the plan is hybrid or fully stand-alone. The design sizes the off grid battery against those loads.

Off grid battery questions

What is an off grid battery?

An off grid battery is the storage that carries a house when the solar array is quiet — evenings, a run of cloud, a winter week. On a stand-alone property it is the supply, with a generator for the long dark stretch. On a hybrid system (solar plus a battery, with the grid as backup) it carries the evening peak and the blackout, and the grid stays available.

Which off-grid battery brands do you install?

Sigenergy SigenStor, Deye, EcoFlow OCEAN 2 and Victron. No brand is the house brand, and we publish no ranking list. The property, the loads and the winter sun pick the platform. Lithium is the usual chemistry. Sodium-ion is named when the profile fits.

Can you add a home battery for off-grid use to solar already on the roof?

Often, yes. The design checks the inverter already on the wall, the roof, and the circuits that stay alive when the feeder drops. Sometimes the honest answer is a new inverter. That call is made on the drawing, before anyone orders a battery.

Does a battery on its own take a house off-grid?

Storage is one half of that path. A stand-alone design also sizes the array for your latitude and your winter, and writes the generator rule for the darkest stretch. A hybrid design can keep the option to cut the connection later. The drawing says which of those today's battery is.

How do I start an off grid battery design?

Send the form on this page, open the custom design path, or call 0483 927 257. Name, phone and suburb open it. A designer comes back with storage sized to the property.
